What are iCam Pro and the iCamSource Pro?

iCam Pro is the mobile application for iOS (iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad) devices that allows you to remotely monitor live video and audio feeds from up to 16 computer webcams or network IP cameras simultaneously. The iCamSource Pro is the free computer application that streams your webcam and network IP camera video and audio to iCam Pro.

iCamSource Pro Mobile is the iOS app that allows you to stream live audio and video from your iOS device's microphone and camera to another mobile device running iCam Pro.

See the Getting Started section for more details.

What do I need to do to setup and use iCam Pro and the iCamSource Pro?

  1. Download iCam Pro to your iOS (iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad) device and the iCamSource Pro to your computer.
  2. Launch the iCamSource Pro, and choose your USB / FireWire / Built-In webcam from the Video and Audio drop-down lists. If you are connecting to an Ethernet / Wi-Fi camera, simply enter the camera's MJPEG/JPEG URL along with the camera's login and password.
  3. Enter an iCam Pro Login and Password of your choosing (no need to register or create an account, but make sure they are not easily guessed) and click the Start button. The iCamSource Pro is now setup and running.
  4. Start iCam Pro on your iOS device, and enter the same iCam Pro Login and Password from Step 3.
  5. Tap Done. iCam Pro is now setup and running, and should connect to the iCamSource Pro running on your computer.

Tap a video thumbnail to Zoom In, and Double-Tap or tap Back to Zoom Out.

Repeat Steps 2 & 3 for any additional computers and Steps 4 & 5 for any additional iOS devices, being sure to use the same Login and Password for all of them. See the Getting Started section for more details.

Do I have to configure my firewall or router or know what my IP address is to use iCam Pro?

Nope. :)

iCam Pro and the iCamSource Pro use the same firewall- and router-piercing technologies and algorithms developed for fileai.com to perform zero-config peer-to-peer connections. In most situations, things should "just work" unless your network is particularly complex or restricted.

If you do have problems getting things to work, please see the Troubleshooting section for more information.

Does this work if iCam Pro is connected via EDGE/3G/4G/LTE or a different WiFi network than the computer running the iCamSource Pro?

Yes, with the purchase of iCam Pro Service. See the iCam Pro Store section for more information.

What types of cameras does the iCamSource Pro support?

The iCamSource Pro currently supports any Built-In, FireWire or USB webcam supported by Windows 7 or macOS 10.9 (Mavericks) and later. It also supports FireWire-connected DV cameras on macOS 10.9 (Mavericks) and later. Video-only support is also available for most MJPEG/JPEG-compatible WiFi and Ethernet network IP cameras. MPEG-4 and h.264 devices are not supported.

Is iCam Pro "peer-to-peer" or are the audio & video sent through your servers?

Yes, iCam Pro is a "peer-to-peer" application. The iCamSource Pro sends its audio & video directly to iCam Pro, and nothing is ever sent through our servers.

Can anyone else connect to my iCamSource Pro and view my webcam?

The only way that someone can connect to your iCamSource Pro is if they know your iCam Pro Login and Password, just like every other account you have on the Internet. In addition, your iCam Pro Login and Password are never sent to our servers, so your video feeds are able to be kept completely private.

What are the Auto-Lock Override and Auto-Zoom options?

The Auto-Lock Override simply prevents your device from automatically dimming its screen and going to "sleep" after a short period of inactivity whenever iCam Pro is running. The Auto-Zoom option causes iCam Pro to automatically zoom in when you are connecting to only one camera. See the Getting Started section for more details.

Why can't I hear any audio?

Audio is only transmitted when you are zoomed in on a camera if the Audio switch is turned on in your iCam Pro Options. Make sure that your microphone volume is turned up on your computer and your iOS device and that your iOS device isn't in silent mode.

I've forgotten my iCam Pro Login and Password. How can I recover them?

Since your iCam Pro Login and Password are never sent to our server, we are unfortunately unable to recover them. The good news is that you can simply enter a new iCam Pro Login and Password combination into both iCam Pro and the iCamSource Pro and you should again be able to connect.

What webcams or wireless cameras should I buy to use with iCam Pro?

We discuss the various webcams and network IP cameras that we own and use with iCam Pro in this Support Forum Post.
