Mistycheri - Thank you for that clarification, as it does seem to be the issue.

Mistycheri - What error messages are you seeing on your iPod touch, if any? If you are seeing the Broker Connection Error then the WiFi network that you are connecting to may be more restrictive than most by blocking iCam's UDP communication. If you are seeing the Source Connection Error then you may need to forward ports in your home router to the computer at home that is running the iCamSource.

I see you have also e-mailed your IP address to support@skjm.com ... Thank you for that. I will attempt to look up your IP address in the iCam Broker Server logs and reply to your e-mail.

Thank you for helping us test our beta MJPEG support.

Is the camera in Motion JPEG mode? What MJPEG URL are you using to attempt to connect to your camera? Have you tried the following? - http://<ip_address>/img/mjpeg.cgi

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks. :)

Firewire is simply an alternative to USB: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FireWire

The most popular Firewire webcam I can think of is the discontinued (but still much-coveted) external Apple iSight webcam: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/iSight

That is strange that you would be getting that error after running the program.

Have you tried rebooting and making sure you have the latest .NET installed?

.NET Framework: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en

Are you right-clicking the iCamSource icon in the systray and then choosing Preferences from the pop-up menu when you get this error?

Also, if you could take a screenshot of the error message and either post it here or e-mail it to support@skjm.com, that could also help.

There appears to be an issue with the Windows iCamSource when AutoStart is enabled and it encounters an error. We will fix that in the next release, but in the meantime, you can try the method outlined here to turn off AutoStart: http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=179.msg649#msg649

If you try choosing "No Audio" and clicking Start do you still receive the error?

Thanks for the positive feedback. :)

Enabling AutoState means that it will automatically start streaming the last used inputs when the application is launched. (It's the automation of pushing the "Start" button.)

Motion detection has been requested before and is currently something we are looking into implementing.

If you see the error message again, please let us know.

Thanks for the suggestion. We have added it to the list of features to potentially implement in the future. :)

Thank you for the positive feedback. :)

There is currently no way to adjust the brightness of the image using iCam or the iCamSource. iCam also does not currently support the Pan-Tilt-Zoom control of PTZ webcams.

Some webcams come with utility software that lets you adjust the brightness and zoom of the resultant image, so that might be a possibility for you, depending on which model webcam you currently have.

iCam Support / iCamSource 1.2 BETA Released
« on: May 05, 2009, 08:06:49 AM »
Two of the most requested features have now been added to the latest BETA version of the iCamSource:

  • Preliminary video-only support for MJPEG-compatible WiFi and Ethernet network IP webcams.
  • Window now minimizes to the System Tray / Menu Bar.

Please visit the iCam Support page for more information, including the list of currently tested and supported MJPEG-compatible webcams.

If your network webcam is not currently supported, you can either request its addition in this thread of the discussion forum or by e-mailing support.

Thanks! :)

The current list of confirmed and tested network IP webcams and their respective MJPEG URLs can always be found here: http://skjm.com/icam/mjpeg.php

If your webcam is not on that list or is currently not supported, reply in this thread or contact support and we will hopefully be able to add support for it soon.

Thanks! :)
