iCam 2.8 quitting constantly 10.9.5 OS
« on: May 02, 2015, 08:50:30 AM »
Basically, I always had it on for years and worked great.. now I go away and when I look it up, it has quit..  I go home to my iMac and it's not open anymore..  Everyday.    Ever since 2.8 I believe..
Should I send crash log here?   It's very long..  thanks..

Are you connecting to multiple IP cameras from the iCamSource?

It appears to be an issue with higher CPU usage on some Macs with multiple IP cameras with the 64-bit 2.8 version than with the 32-bit 2.7.2.2 version: http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=6365.msg19228#msg19228

Ok.. So what is the answer to it for now?  Yes, I have 4 camera's going.  1 iMac, a Macbook, 1 Cysco and a Foscam.
Will there be a fix to it?
I can send you the crash report...  Do I send it here?

Are you running two cameras per computer, one webcam and one IP camera? If you open the Applications > Utilites > Activity Monitor on your Macs, what is the % CPU usage of the iCamSource?

If you have crash reports then you can email them to support@skjm.com

If you could reference this forum topic in your email, that would be helpful as well. Thanks!

Actually, currently I'm just using my iMac Dec 2012v..  I have 2 IP cameras and the iMac camera itself. Sometimes, I turn on the macbook and I pick up the 4th camera off the macbook.  I haven't even been using that though.. it's not on and not part of the problem.  So, I have 1 iMac and 2 ip camera's with that. Total 3 camera's.

I sent info in email..  crash report and activity monitor.  thanks..Rick

Thank you for your email.

21% CPU usage (from your Activity Monitor screenshot) is seemingly completely normal, so it may not be a CPU usage issue. After the iCamSource has been running for a few minutes, what is the memory usage of the process? (Under the Memory tab in the Activity Monitor.)

Thank you for your help in tracking this down!

We have a new version of the iCamSource (2.8.0.1) to try: http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=6365.msg19236#msg19236

Great news, and thank you very much!  8)

We will likely roll this fix into a 2.8.1 official release this week if there are no other reported issues.

Thanks again!  ;D
