setting up more than 1 cam

The Built-In iSight also uses the USB bus (even though it is a built-in camera) so it seems like there is a general issue with both cameras working at the same time. I am not sure if that is a hardware or driver issue.

If you try opening iChat and PhotoBooth (removing the iCamSource completely from the equation) are you able to see both cameras at the same time?

I am also having trouble setting up two web cameras on ICAm.  I have a USB logitech and a wifi d link DCS-1130 running on window Vista.  With the ICAM software open I can view both cameras independently but it will only let me log on to one at a time.  I tried every thing here on the post with negative results.

Are you using the same login and password for both iCamSources?

Some how it started to work.  Now with my two different cameras is there a way that I can name them differently?  I tried to name them on the iCamSource preferences and it won't let me give each camera its own specific name.

If you stop the iCamSource you should be able to edit the iCamSource Description if it is currently grayed out.

When you change the name it changes it for both cameras.

When I run two iCamSources and change the description of one of them, they both send me their distinct descriptions.

It does just save the last used description to the registry, so if you restart the iCamSources, they are going to have the same description: The last one used.

Is this how it is acting for you as well?

I have the exact same problem, build in Isight and USB webcam:  I can only start one camera at a time.

I have an 27" iMac (intel I7) and my USB webcam is a Logitech 9000 pro. I did manage to make both the Isight and logitech work at the same time once, but I am not able to make it work again.

After reading this post I will tried different USB ports, opening iChat and PhotoBooth, and play with start order.  The thing is before the 9000 pro I had a C200 and never got this problem, both the Isight and the C200 always worked fine at the same time.

Maybe its a conflict between the isight and the 9000pro since both camera are HD with 2MP.

UPDATE : Both webcams wont start at the same time in PhotoBooth and iChat, so its an Mac problem and not an iCam problem

Herba - From what we can tell it's a power issue on the USB bus.  We've seen cases where USB devices other than webcams still caused the problem on certain Macs.  It's possible that the C200 draws less power than the 9000 pro.  You might be right about the increased data transfer from the two HD cameras as well.

The C200 doesnt work anymore either. This is getting pretty weird.  Tried sevaral things and nothing works

Do you see the problem with the C200 in Photobooth and iChat?

*** Update ***

I did the following to solve the problem:
- Turn iMac off
- Unplug the iMac for 5 minutes
- Plug the camera in the USB port that is the most toward the center.
- Replug the iMac, Turn on
- Started the iSight cam with iCam
- Started the logitech cam, no audio, with another copy of iCam

It worked, both are now running at the same time...  weird.
