Do you mean every time you have to restart the iCamSource that you have to choose the webcam mic as opposed to the computer mic? Are you running the Windows or Mac version of the iCamSource?
MJPEG & JPEG URL formats vary among different network webcam manufacturers and even among different webcam models from the same manufacturer.
Please visit http://skjm.com/icam/mjpeg.php for the latest list of manufacturers and their associated MJPEG and JPEG URLs. Not all URLs will work with all models, so please let us know if either your webcam manufacturer is not listed or if none of the URLs work with your specific camera model.
It sounds like something that is coming from the webcam itself. Do you see these bars when using different software with the same webcam? Are your webcam drivers up-to-date?
Could you maybe e-mail a screenshot of what it looks like to support@skjm.com the next time you see it?
iCam and the iCamSource are designed to work with USB and Built-In webcams in addition to a select number of network IP cameras.
Your ELRO system seems to be a different type altogether, so that is why using it with the iCamSource seems a bit confusing or complicated. Usually, to connect to more than one camera, you run one iCamSource per camera. In your situation, it is the receiver device that is acting as an intermediary between the multiple cameras and the computer, so running more than one iCamSource doesn't make sense since there is only 1 USB connection from the receiver.
Are you able to view the receiver's video within another application other than the iCamSource? I am unsure if it is the receiver software / drivers or the iCamSource that is freezing, so if you tried it with another application we could narrow down the possibilities. Are your drivers for the receiver up-to-date?
As or the Auto-Start option, let me explain it a different way. If Auto-Start is not checked, when you run the iCamSource, you have to click the Start button before you see video in the preview window. Clicking the Start button "starts" the iCamSource, allowing it to accept connections from iCam and transmit video. On the other hand, if Auto-Start IS checked, then you don't have to click the Start button after running the iCamSource to allow it to accept connections from iCam and transmit video.
manelserra - I am assuming that the USB connection comes up as a single connection on the iCamSource drop-down? Or are there multiple ones?
1. How long is it before it freezes? How does the iCamSource "alternate" between the two cameras? Is that a function of the receiver, that it alternates back and forth between the feeds? Are you running the Mac or Windows version of the iCamSource? 2. I am not sure what it looks like on your TV screen, but on iCam you can connect up to 4 cameras at the same time and view them all simultaneously. Each camera would have to be connected to a separate iCamSource, as that is what iCam connects to. 3. The Auto-Start option means that when the iCamSource application is run it will automatically connect to the last video and audio inputs that were selected and simulate the clicking of the "Start" button.
We don't really have any experience with PCI capture cards, so if anyone else has gotten 2-4 cameras to work with iCam we would also be interested in hearing about it.
Currently iCam only connects to the iCamSource software running on a computer. This is mainly because the iCamSource handles the zero-config firewall piercing and bandwidth throttling required when the iPhone is connected via 3G/EDGE.
Unfortunately we are a small company and as such are only able to offer e-mail support at this time.
I have reviewed your e-mail support correspondence and it appears that Jay has responded to your every one of your 4 e-mails within 2-4 hours of you sending it. Are you not receiving his replies?
The cameras may be compatible with the current version of the iCamSource, but as we have not tested our software on that particular hardware, I cannot say for sure. Unfortunately the streaming video formats vary among different network device manufacturers and even among different device models by the same manufacturer.
We are currently working with our users to support the devices they have, so if the iCamSource does not currently support that particular model, it might do sometime in the near future.
One way we can test this is for you to run your device with a temporary test login and password and e-mail that information to support@skjm.com to allow us to connect to it to determine how the video stream is formatted. If the current version of the iCamSource supports it, then we will let you know how it should be configured. If not, then we will work to include that functionality in the next BETA release.
Are you seeing this error as soon as the iCamSource starts, or when you double-click or right-click on the iCamSource icon in the systray and choose Preferences? If is when you are clicking the systray icon, this is a known bug that will be fixed in the upcoming BETA. The work-around is to not click the icon in the systray until you have clicked the Start button on the iCamSource Preferences window.
If it is crashing as soon as you launch the program, then you can try installing the following two pre-requisites, reboot, and see if that helps:
Ok, we have released a new version of the iCamSource BETA for Mac and Windows, Version 1.2.2, downloadable from http://skjm.com/icam/support.php
We have added the ability to choose either a JPEG or MJPEG URL since many cameras support displaying a single image frame at a time. We have also updated the MJPEG & JPEG URL page (http://skjm.com/icam/mjpeg.php) to include the Linksys WVC200, among others.
Thank you for your extremely informative post, and I am sorry that you are having problems.
One thing you could try is to see if any another video / webcam software causes your computer to blue screen if left running for a while with the webcam engaged.
Since the Vaio also has the built-in webcam you could try choosing the Logitech as the video input and the built-in mic as the audio input and see if it blue screens or not. You can then also switch the choices, using the Logitech for audio and the built-in webcam for video. This could help narrow it down to see if it is the video or audio aspect of the camera, or it might make no difference at all.
That is only used if you are connecting to a Network Webcam. If your webcam is plugged directly into your computer via USB or Firewire, then those settings do not apply to your configuration.
