Is there any tiny cameras that work for this? Like 3 or 2 inches?

The latest version of iCamSource supports audio for Foscam. Please see this forum post for further information: http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=3932.0

We are not familiar with any in particular, however, if you find one that it outputs MJPEG formatted data, it'll probably work with iCamSource.

I am buying a webcam with a usb connection for my computer.
Before I buy it, can you tell me if it will work with your i-cam.
It is a Gear Head Quick 1.3MP Webcam with Night Vision from walmart for $15
Thank you

iCam supports Built-In, FireWire or USB Webcams and DV Cameras as well as select MJPEG-compatible Network IP Cameras. If it is a USB camera we do support it.

We also discuss the recommended cameras on our forum at: http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=908.0

Any thought to supporting the Philips in.Sight cameras?

They are sold through the Apple store and come with their own version of monitoring software, but I like the iCam stuff better and would rather use that.  The cameras seem decent though, and they are Mac friendly which seems to be somewhat rare these days.

Right camera for my purposes
« Reply #70 on: June 28, 2012, 06:35:26 PM »
I'm sorry to ask such a basic question, but I'm just now trying to install the "right" s/w and h/w for monitoring what goes on at our vacant (vacation) home.  I am thinking I need to use iCam on my iPhone and iPad, and the corresponding iCamSource on my Mac located at that facility.

I do have a live internet (broadband cable) connection at that house.  It seems a dedicated computer has to reside there to perform the connections and functions, correct?

And, since the cameras will be placed distant from the computer (i.e. not able to connect directly to the Mac using a USB cable), I am not certain what cameras would be appropriate for this purpose.

While I want to be sure to be able to see what's going on and who may be in/around the house, I don't want to overdo the expense by buying something that's overkill for this monitoring purpose.

Can you advise me about the following:
1) does a dedicated (always on, local on that ISP) need to be at that home?
2) what camera(s) would suit my needs for not being able to plug directly into a computer and able to deliver adequate one-way viewing/audio?

Thank you.  And being new to this forum, I again apologize for asking such a basic question to a group of people who are obviously way beyond my knowledge base !!

Yes, you need to run iCamSource on a computer with a webcam in order to view the webcam on your iPhone.

We discuss the recommended cameras on our forum at: http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=908.0

Please note that the Airlink cameras advertised as "Windows Only" are Mac compatible and can easily be setup using IP Cam Config (http://skjm.com/ipcamconfig/) instead of the provided Windows install disc.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

The iCamSource is compatible with network IP cameras that support JPEG or MJPEG (Motion JPEG) video streaming. Cameras that support h.264 or MPEG-4 video are not compatible.

I'm looking for a wireless with tilt pan and zoom.  Some of the recommended cameras at the beginning of this post have been discontinued.  Does iCam support zoom and do you have a recommended camera?

Thanks
