RESOLVED: How to have web access on Pro
« on: July 28, 2014, 05:53:37 AM »
As you know from previous topic that there is no web support for Pro version. I found a workaround to have Pro running and have web access at work:

1) Install iCamSource on PC/Mac (not the Pro one but latest 1.x version). Leave the Pro running on computer. There will be icamsource.exe and icamsourcepro.exe on PC running at sametime.

2) In the 1.x version server, turn off motion detection and remove all schedules. They are not needed. The Pro takes care of this for Pro clients. This is just a program to tell the web server of current ports and IP address of streams.

3) Go to http://skjm.com/icam/web/ and log in. Enjoy.

This procedure does not require to have 1.x client on your mobile devices. Just the Pro ones.

The downside is that the CPU will be as twice as stressed. Not an issue of small number of cameras on a powerful CPU.

SKJM developer: Can the revised Pro server "tell" your web server of current streams available. No need to modify web server. Should be easy! If you want web 2.0 later, then update if you like but for now, just have the Pro server tell the web 1.0 server of the streams. Thats all is needed for now. Otherwise, we have to run both 1.x and 2.x servers.  :P

Thanks!

One more thing. All of my cameras are IP and can be shared with two server programs.

Don't think these two program can use USB camera at same time.

iCamWeb Pro has been requested and is currently on our list of potential features to implement in the future.

Unfortunately, the current iCamWeb can’t use the streams from iCamSource Pro because the Pro version uses a more advanced video encoding.
