Start capturing on connection
« on: December 27, 2009, 11:36:49 AM »
It would be possible to start video capturing from webcam only when there is a remote connection? It will allow to leave the icamsource server always started without blocking the webcam when it's not needed. This way would be more easy to use it together with other sw that uses webcam (as skype).

Other users have requested the ability to remotely start the camera, and we may be adding that feature to a future version of iCam.  One thing to keep in mind is that if the camera is disabled, then no motion detection processing can be performed and therefore, no push notifications can be sent, and no recording of motion events can happen.

You can currently share your webcam between multiple programs using a 'virtual webcam' program, such as ManyCam (http://www.manycam.com/).
