Strange thing going on with iCam Source app - HELP
« on: July 20, 2009, 03:40:39 PM »
So here's my problem: I had the older version of iCam and worked fine on my 17" G4 powerbook (running the latest Leopard) - shows a little window of what the camera is seeing...no problem and can see through my iPhone as well. So an app update popped up and I go ahead and update it. restarted the system and now when I clicked on the new updated app, it looks like it launches but nothing pops up, no window, and nothing even indicates that the app is even launched (looking at my dock below). Usually there's a little indicator below the icon in the dock showing that it's active/open. SO, thinking that the app is not working, i happened to logon to my iCam app on my iPhone, and much to my amazement, the iCam is working...I can see everything....what the hell?

Was the update to the latest app just a plugin or does it work in the background or something? I have no idea why it's working but it is. (on my laptop) there is no indicator that the App is open, no window from the app is open....I even opened my "Force Quit Applications" window to see if it's working in the background, and nothing...I can't quit or force quit...

any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

Are you running the latest version of iCamSource(1.3)? If so, then there is no iCamSource icon in the dock. Instead, there is a small iCamSource icon in the menu bar (near the clock).

If you click the iCamSource icon you should be able to stop, start, and quit the iCamSource.  If you select "Preferences" it will display the iCamSource window.

I haven't checked that...I just thought it was a simple update (but I am running the latest now) and it worked exactly the same having the app appear on the dock - I'll check for the icon in the menu bar - thanks!
