In case Peterdg doesn't respond, you might consider buying some IP cameras (such as the LOFTEK CXS-2200) instead of buying a hardware encoder. You could buy 4 or 5 LOFTEK CXS-2200's (around $67/each), which have pan/tilt, audio, and night vision (all works in iCam), for the price of the AXIS 240Q. If the AXIS 240Q hardware craps out on you, all of your cameras will stop working. The frame rate of the IP cameras will be higher than through the AXIS 240Q, as well. Granted, that frame rate increase won't do anything for you in iCam, but you could use another software program to record at a higher rate. Of course, I don't know how much money you have sunk into your existing CCTV cameras, nor their quality, so maybe this isn't a good option for you.
Additionally, I'm following the directions here (
http://foscam.us/forum/poe-diy-any-distance-2-00-in-parts-t2077.html) to change the cameras to POE devices so I can run a CAT5e cable to each camera, which will take care the data and power. If you consider replacing wired CCTV cameras with IP cameras, you can tie CAT5/6 to one end of the CCTV cable and just pull it through to replace it with CAT5/6. Just some ideas!
