Manage more than 4 cams
« on: March 18, 2009, 11:15:55 AM »
Hello,
I have a PC where I can install a PCI Board that can manage input from till 8 different Analog Cameras.
I would like to know if it's possible to manage more than 4 sources
and how could it be possible to write a script that would manage the automatic startup of the software when windows starts up.
Thanks in advance for the answer
Marco

The four camera limit is per login/password.  To view more than four webcams on your iPhone/iPod, you can use one login/password for cams 1-4, another login/password for cams 5-8, etc.

However, iCamSource may not recognize your PCI board.  If you've already tried it and it works, then you can disregard this. In general, iCam only works with USB and built-in webcams that are recognized by the Mac and Windows operating systems.

Several other people have asked for the ability to auto-connect, and that feature will probably be added in a future version iCamSource.

Your software sees the sources as the PCI card installs standard windows drivers so that I can manage them
even using standard windows tools.
I'll go further this afternoon.
but I'd need the ability of a command line soon...
I  could also think about financing this step of development...
or if you want to add this function into your software (I'm personally a C/C++/Delphi developer and I have also skills in C#)
Kind Regards
Marco

So last result is that it works with PCI acquisition card
just as this one creates 8 Devices with  the same name your software
gets confused and always connects to the first one even if in the combo
box I choose another one.
This I think it's due to the fact that you make a lookup basing upon the
name of the device and usually it works as if I connect 2, 3, 4 USB
camera they'll be named "Name #1","name #2" and so on...
so as I wrote before I'd like to help you in the development even coding by myself
I'd want no rights from this.
The code will be yours just you'll help me to solve a big big problem.
Thanks
Marco

If you aren't able to use the cams just because of the names being the same, then that definitely sounds like a bug.  Please send an email to support@skjm.com and refer to this forum thread.  I'll make a test version for you that will either fix the problem or at least get more information about the problem.

We have added command line arguments to our list of potential features to implement in the future.  We're currently working on other development, so I can't give a timeframe as to when it would be implemented.
