iCamSource Bandwidth Draw
« on: March 14, 2009, 04:12:19 PM »
I have one of those 5GB/month caps from my ISP and want to know about the download draw of use of iCamSource.

If it runs all day, is it eating up bandwidth, or, just nibbling on it slowly?
Does running 2 cameras use more bandwidth?
Does it use more up bandwidth when iCam or iCamWeb is logged into and being used?

Many thx.

yoyosma - When an iCamSource is idle it is sending a small amount of data (about 100 bytes) every 5 seconds or so to the iCam Broker Server to let it know it is still there. That equates to about 61 MB of data uploaded per month if it is just sitting there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When iCam or iCamWeb is connected, then naturally the image data being uploaded will be added to the total.

I hope that answers your questions. :)
