iCamSource stop streaming

it connects to the cameras and streaming the video for short period of time, then stops, I will have to restart the iCamSource to make it work again

What error message shows up on the iPhone when it doesn't connect?

Is it possible that the computer is going to sleep?  If the computer goes to sleep, you won't be able to view the webcams because the iCamSource program isn't running.  Make sure that your computer is configured to never go to sleep.

it says: No Sources found

the computer is always on, I disabled the sleep settings.

sometimes it get so strange that it's streaming the video that's 1 minutes ago. ( I compared it to the streaming in the browser)

I have the exact same problem (at least I think...)

I have two SkyIPcam500 hardwired.

Icamsource is on an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800- processor based computer.

No problem logging in Icamsource. Will connect on Icam for a couple of minute before "losing the communication". The Icamsource still have an image but it seems frozen.

The Airlink view would still work properly. I disable completely the recognition part and put the less precise image possible.

When I start Icamsource, the processor is usually around 30%. Then after a 1 minute it will go to the roof (99-100%). Will go to the roof with only one camera. At this point, since the recognition is disable, all it does is retransmitting an image.

I though it was because my computer is not fast enough. But Airlink view alone seems fine with my processing capability. Seems more like an infinite loop somewhere...

Any idea?

icamlam - When you see the No Sources Found error on your phone, do you still see video from the webcams in iCamSource on your computer?

icamlam & sim14741 - Do you see this same behavior when you only have one camera running?

Do you see this same behavior if you select JPEG mode instead of MJPEG mode?

One camera same behavior as two.

I am currently using http://192.168.2.241/cgi/mjpg/mjpeg.cgi (240/241 depending on the camera). I tried keeping this but with JPEG. Doesn't work. Loose the camera connection.

Tried with the only option in JPEG (at least listed on your site) with http://192.168.2.240/goform/capture with the JPEG option. No communication.

UPDATE: doesn't want to reconnect using previous setup (http://192.168.2.241/cgi/mjpg/mjpeg.cgi with MJPEG option)! Weird.

Sorry for the delay. Was out of town.

If I go to the http://192.168.2.241/cgi/mjpg/mjpeg.cgi  URL in my web browser, I'm being asked the username and password. After this step, I'm being asked if I want to download MJPEG.CGI from 192.168.2.240.

BTW, I am able to get back connections to both camera through IcamSource, but I am also back with the previous problem of losing streaming after a one minute or so.

It sounds like you're using IE as your browser. Try using Mozilla Firefox to make sure the feed is continuous. IE doesn't support mjpeg, but Firefox does.

IE or Firefox? If you refer to post #3, my problem is that I am able to connect two SkyIPcam500 to iCamSource then look at them through ICam but not for more than a minute or two before it crash.

Either way, I don't think this will help diagnose your issue. I hope you guys get it figured out though.

I am not sure if the problem is caused by a "not capable enough" processor or if it is something else.

But by removing recognition option and putting the resolution to a minimum, even if the processsing is limited, it will keep going at least with iCamSource. If I add recognition, it crashes.

But with or without recognition, it will lose connection with Icam after a couple of minute. I am not sure why.

Do your cameras have a setting that you can set the framerate?  You could try reducing the framerate on the camera to see if that has any effect.

It is currently at VGA 25 fps which is probably the by default setup. Could setup to QVGA or QQVGA and from 1 to 30 fps. I am not familiar with the QQVGA appelation, I am not sure if better or low resolution than VGA.

Do you have a proposed setup?

QVGA means Quarter VGA, and QQVGA is a quarter of that.  It's probably better to reduce the framerate rather than resolution.  Try 5 fps at VGA resolution, that should be a big enough difference in processing for you to find out if the framerate is causing the problem.  The motion detection processing is performed every half second, so the motion detection processing won't be affected if you reduce the framerate to 5 fps.
