Can I check the non-WIFI connection using iCamWeb

Hello Guys and Galls!

First post to the forum, but I've been following for a while.

Having great fun with the standard release iCam and iCamSource but the odd snag along the way. Here is where I am at:

- Running Windows XP

- Installed iCamSource on an eeePC 901 netbook that is connected to my home network by WiFi.   AVG Free AntiVirus and ZoneAlarm Free firewall installed.

- Got the system working fine on both WiFi and Internet and used my iPhone 4 and iPad to watch using iCam whilst I was away from home last week.  All good so far!

- As the eeePC only has a tiny solid state HD, I reset it to factory spec yesterday and reinstalled iCamSource, AVG Free, ZoneAlarm and it worked fine on WiFi

- I then installed iCamSource on the desktop that is connected to the wireless router by Cat 5 cable and set up a webcam on this PC.

- All working fine on WiFi

However, when I went out and fired up iCam on the iPhone, I could only see the webcam connected to the PC and not the one on the Netbook.  When I got back in range of the WiFi, I could see both cameras - odd!  I've exited iCamServer on the desktop just in case their is something odd going on between the desktop and the netbook.  Uninstalled iCamServer on the netbook and reinstalled.  It was working fine before I reset the netbook and I'm sure that I haven't done anything different with the installation, but I seem to have 'broken' the netbook connection.

The only thing that might be different, is that I haven't let the netbook do a Windows update.

I live in an area of very poor 3G connection and I'm trying to fault find by switching off the iPhone WiFi and trying to connect by 3G only, but the signal is rubbish.  I don't really want to have to drive to an area of good coverage just to see if the Internet connection is working.

A long lead in to a simple question, if I connect to the eeePC using iCamWeb, am I looking at the Internet feed, or the WiFi feed.  I've got iCamWeb running and I can see the webcam just fine.

Looking forward to V2 so that I can use multiple cameras from the one program.

Ah-ha!

Thanks very much to daveh for his comments in the Troubleshooting 102 thread (second comment down).  All down to ZoneAlarm trying to save me from myself.

This was the key to solving my problem.  I'd forgotten that I'd had problems before with the default ZA firewall settings.

15. Reopened ZoneAlarm Free and clicked on Firewall => Main.  Set Internet Zone Security to Medium.

I'd just manually set up port forwarding to 12000-12100 but even disabling this, iCamSource gets through OK:-)

OK, so roll on that V2 release so I can rum my other cameras on the eeePC.
