If you're using an IP camera, you can try changing the fps in the camera's settings page to 5fps (vs. the 30 or so that it's probably set to by default). That will reduce the processing that icamsource has to do...could improve your overall frame rate. Also, if possible, make sure the image resolution of the camera is set to 640x480. Even if it doesn't fix the framerate issue on the iPad (which I'm sure the SKJM guys will help you get fixed), the above changes should reduce the processing load on your laptop running icamsource. 15-20% seems high for one camera...at least if it's an IP camera. USB cameras require more processing, I think...and audio adds to the processing demand, as well.
