How to set up multible sources?
« on: May 23, 2010, 10:12:37 AM »
Im new to icam, great service and user freindly, I am trying to figure out how to set up multible sources, I have a webcam on my laptop and it streams that great (via the internal source tab on icam source software).....the I can chose wifi/external source and use my wireless network webcam....streams that great to iphone.  But I can only stream 1 source at a time???  There are 4 boxes on the Iphone icam App, so I would assume I can log into either A) 4 different streaming log in's or B) have the option to chose more than 1 source on the icam source software on my computer.

Am I doing something wrong?  Thanks for any suggestions, ultimately I would like to be able set up multible log ins from various computers on various networks and have 4 of them streaming to my iphone (ie camera at home, webcam somwhere, camera at work, and maybe another webcam somewhere else)  Is that feasable?

Thanks again!!

Jim

From the FAQ (http://skjm.com/icam/support.php#faq) :

Q : How do I connect to multiple webcams on the same computer?
A : Many users have had success connecting to multiple webcams on the same computer by running multiple instances of the iCamSource. On Mac OS X simply make additional copies of the iCamSource.app and run each one, associating it with a different webcam input. On Windows simply launch another instance by double-clicking the iCamSource application shortcut a second time. If you use the same iCam Login and Password you should be able to connect to all of them at once from iCam.

Thanks alot, that did the trick, (on my laptop) but I went out today to get a new Desktop to leave running more, and for some reason it (icam source) wont find my wireless webcam, it gives me a tab for one (and i use the same URL as I have for other computers running isource and it streamed just fine, but now it wont find my wifi cam)

The computer found the wifi cam on the network, but not the isource.

BUT...the fact I can use that log in for multible cameras really solves my initial problem, now I just need to fix my "new" one!!

Are you using the same exact URL ... Including the leading http:// ? I would double-check the URL to make sure it is the same one.

If you copy and paste the URL from the iCamSource to your web browser are you able to connect? If your desktop is connected to the same WiFi network as your other cameras then it too should be able to connect using the same URL and camera login / password.

Software has some funny issues sometimes, so i kept playing around with it via differen configs withthe URL etc, finally but it never highlighted up the "Start" feature.  So finally after all that, i tried to manually input the info vs any copy and paste, and as soon as I started typing the Star button lit up, i finished the URL and bingo, working.

Dont know why, really dont care, as long as it stays streaming!!  Thanks for your help, great tool/app.
