HUNT HLT-86F compatibility?
« on: September 20, 2010, 05:43:33 AM »
Hi all!

Can anyone tell me, if this camera (HUNT HLT-86F) is compatible? I would hate to spend 500 euros for a camera not compatible with icam..

We haven't tested with that particular camera, but if it outputs MJPEG formatted data, it'll probably work with iCamSource.

You can try our free webcam serving software, iCamSource, to see if it works with your camera.  Mac and Windows versions of iCamSource are available here:  http://skjm.com/icam/support.php

When you run iCamSource, you'll need to select the "Ethernet / Wi-Fi" tab because your camera is a network camera, not a USB camera.  Then, enter the MJPEG or JPEG URL for your camera.

If the MJPEG or JPEG URL isn't something that can be found by searching around with Google or by contacting their support, we actually have another solution available, although it is currently in its very preliminary stages, and that is: http://skjm.com/icam/mjpeg_test.php

When you enter the camera's IP address and port into that web page, it will attempt to connect to the camera using all of the common MJPEG and JPEG URLs that we are aware of. If any of the URLs produce an image, then that is the URL to use in iCamSource.

If your camera requires a login and password, you can enter them in that webpage right before the address :  login:password@Camera_address

Thanks! I have already purchased your excellent icam app, and I was searching for a good IP camera to use it with.
I cannot test this camera (or any other) before purchasing it, thats why I asked..
Can you recommend any other good compatible IP camera under 300 ISD with good low light response and decent resolution (to match my iphone 4)?

iCamSource has video-only support for Wi-Fi cameras that output MJPEG formatted data.  Cameras by Axis, Panasonic, and Canon have been known to work well, but they can be somewhat expensive.

We also own and use the WiFi cameras listed below.  They're relatively inexpensive:

Linksys WVC54GCA - http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/products/WVC54GCA
AirLink101 SkyIPCam500W - http://www.airlink101.com/products/aicn500w.php
AirLink101 SkyIPCam747W - http://www.airlink101.com/products/aicn747w.php

Unfortunately, I can't really help as far as the image quality or low light response is concerned.  Maybe someone else can chime in with help on that.
