The frame rate on iCamWeb is currently limited to 1 fps.

Ah, you're right. Sorry, I must have misread.

iCamWeb really only requires that Java is installed and that JavaScript is enabled. If you open the Java Console (under Tools > Java Console) and the JavaScript console (under Tools > Error Console) you should be able to see if there are any error messages pertaining to iCamWeb that might indicate what the problem might be.

Thank you for the positive feedback. :)

Are you seeing any messages when running iCamWeb in IE? What version of IE are you running, and on what version of Windows?

iCam Support / Question for LaptopConnect Card Users
« on: April 27, 2009, 09:03:56 PM »
Has anyone used iCam while running the iCamSource on a laptop that is connected to the Internet via a LaptopConnect card from AT&T?

We have received 3 reports within the past six months from users that have had issues doing just that, and we suspect that it has something to do with the inner-workings of AT&T's network. The problem only occurs when the iPhone is also connected via EDGE or 3G, as users have no problem connecting to LaptopConnect iCamSources when their iPhones are connected via WiFi.

We are currently looking into obtaining a LaptopConnect card for testing, but if anyone has had any experience running iCam and the iCamSource in this configuration, please reply in this thread.

Thanks! :)

greenham - That is strange how that one machine is causing you problems.

Since it is a fresh install of XP, do you have all the latest Service Packs and updates installed as well? In addition, do you have the following two pre-requisites installed?

Visual C++ Redistributable Package: http://skjm.com/icam/vcredist_x86.exe
.NET Framework: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en

They should have been automatically downloaded and installed by the iCamSource installer, but sometimes re-installing them helps.

greenham - You don't see a No Audio option? Are you running the latest version (1.1.3) of the iCamSource for Windows? http://skjm.com/icam/support.php

So you have 2 of the exact same make and model camera, and one works, but the other doesn't? I know I have had issues with Logitech drivers with two different Logitech models being installed at the same time: It basically doesn't work. I think the drivers for the two different models step on each other when they're installed.

Since this is the camera microphone that is causing the issue, have you tried using it as a microphone in another Windows application, to confirm that it is working properly?

greenham - Are you choosing the webcam as the Audio source when you get this error? If you choose No Audio, do you still get the error?

Error code 35 means that there is a problem communicating with the chosen Audio source. If you are sure that your webcam's drivers are up to date, then if you choose another audio option, for example the Mic or Line-In input from your sound card, does it still crash?

What model is your webcam? Have you tried rebooting and unplugging and re-plugging in the camera? If it is connected via a USB hub have you tried connecting it directly to your computer?

skham - It sounds like you might have Auto Start enabled on the iCamSource, but there is an issue with the inputs you had previously chosen.

The Auto Start option is stored in the Registry. If you download the registry file from the link below, double-click it to add it to the registry, and then restart the iCamSource, it shouldn't crash on start up.

Disable Auto Start Registry File - http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSourceDisableAutoStart.reg

Once you have chosen the appropriate inputs and confirmed that things work, you can re-check the Auto Start box to re-enable it.

easyriderak - Are there any other programs using the webcam at the same time? If so, try closing them first. Have you tried rebooting and unplugging and re-plugging in the camera? What make and model webcam is it?

Port forwarding isn't always the solution to every connectivity problem, so that is why we don't have the option readily available by default. Sometimes it can make things worse or simply confuse the troubleshooting process. If you have had to forward ports in the past for other programs, here are the instructions for using port forwarding with the iCamSource:

To use port forwarding, you will need to both enable port forwarding in the iCamSource and setup a port forwarding range in your router.

To enable port forwarding in the iCamSource:

===

If you are running Windows, you will need to set an iCamSource registry key:

1. Download the following file to your computer and double-click it: http://skjm.com/icam/iCamSourcePortForwarding.reg If the file opens up in notepad for some reason, let me know.
2. Restart the iCamSource. You should now see a checkbox allowing you to enable Port Forwarding. Check it, and you should see the range 12000 to 12100 by default.

- - -

If you are running OS X, you will need to add an iCamSource user defaults setting:

1. Open a Terminal windows from Applications > Utilities > Terminal
2. Copy and paste the following line of text into it and press Enter:

defaults write com.skjm.icamsource PortRangeSet -bool true

3. Restart the iCamSource. You should now see a checkbox allowing you to enable Port Forwarding.  Check it, and you should see the range 12000 to 12100 by default.

===

Next, in your router, forward UDP (not TCP) ports 12000-12100 to the computer running the iCamSource.

Please let me know if you have any questions or are still experiencing connectivity issues.

Are both cameras plugged directly into the computer, or into a USB hub? If they are plugged into a USB hub, try plugging them directly into the computer.

Is it a desktop Mac, Mac mini, or MacBook? Do you have any other software running that might be attempting to use the webcam? What version of OS X are you running? Have you installed all of the latest Mac OS X updates? Do you have any other webcams available to test with?

Alec25283 - Are you attempting to connect via iCam on your iPhone or iCamWeb in all of these cases? If you are trying to use iCamWeb then it will not work in Mobile Safari or any other web browser where Java is not installed.

What hardware device are you choosing in the Audio drop-down list? Is it the webcam's built-in microphone, or is it the computer's mic input? I wonder if another program might be taking over the audio input for some reason. Are you running Windows or Mac OS X?

As for the WiFi question, do you loose your WiFi connection on your iPhone as well? (Does the WiFi icon show a weak connection.) If you are using your laptop and you lose the connection on iCam, does tapping the refresh button (in the bottom-left corner) cause you to reconnect? If not, are you able to browse the web on your iPhone when this is happening?
