iCamSource Crashes
« on: February 18, 2009, 01:30:56 PM »
iCamSource 1.1.1 opens fine, but when I click start the video shows up for a second then it crashes. it does this every time... even on my other computer.

Any ideas? I have had no problems with iCam before. I am very excited about the sound feature and can't wait to use it!

jacklink01 - Are you running the Windows or Mac version of the iCamSource? Do you see any error messages when it crashes?

I'm on Windows. No error messages... just the generic "iCamSource is not responding" with the send or dont send buttons.

jacklink01 - Are your webcam drivers up to date? Are you plugging your webcam into the computer or into a USB hub? If it is plugged into a hub, could you try plugging it directly into the computer? If you are already plugging it into the computer, can you try plugging it into a different USB port?

Yeah the drivers are up to date... i tried it on two different computers with two different video capture devices.

It all worked fine until i updated to 1.1.1

The device is connected because it shows up for half a second when you click start, then the "not responding" appears.

jacklink01 - What are the devices that are showing up in the Audio and Video drop-down lists, and which ones are you choosing? What are the make and model of your two different video capture devices?

I am having the same issues since I updated to 1.1.1, here is the error log.

See the end of this message for details on invoking

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Is there anyway you can put up the previous version of source? So I can still use that until the bugs are worked out for 1.1.1

Jim,

The function it's crashing in is mostly automatically generated .NET code from Microsoft. There's a good chance that updating your .NET install to the latest version will solve the problem.

You can get the .NET updater here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7&displaylang=en

If updating .NET doesn't resolve the problem, I can make a test version of iCamSource for you to try out.  In that case, please email support@skjm.com and refer to this forum thread and we can go from there.

I have tried with multiple computers and multiple cameras and multiple video devices. This problem only occurs on Windows 2000 computers. iCam worked with Windows 2000 before... i hope you can return functionality for it. My store uses a security system that runs on Windows 2000... thats why I have to use windows 2000. Is there anyway I could use the previous version of iCam? It worked. I don't even need sound on those computers. (but would like it)
