ActiveMovie issue
« on: May 26, 2010, 02:17:36 AM »
Hi.  I was curious if there had been any more progress nailing down the "ActiveMovie" issue.  I have snooped around in the forum for 6 or 7 months, hoping that the issue would be fixed, but it doesn't seem to be any different.
The one link I found on it ( http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=481.0 ), simply says to "make sure drivers are updated"...which, being a programmer, mine are up-to-date pretty much at all times, and nothing has changed with the issue in the 6 or 7 months.  I have 3, sometimes 4, machines with iCamSource, and they all seem to do it when coming out of a basic screensaver.  Every machine has a brand new install of Windows 7 64 bit, one has an ATI 5770 card, 2 have brand new nVidia GTX cards, and 1 has an older workhorse GeForce8, all have the latest non-beta drivers.  It happens on both ATI and nVidia cards.

Great app!  Any info is appreciated.

Thanks!

-Mark

This is a problem that's been reported several times, but we haven't been able to replicate the problem so it's difficult to track down the cause.

Please make sure that Windows is fully updated through Windows Update.

Also, make sure you are using the latest version of .Net.  The .Net updater is available here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en   You most likely have recent updates of these since you have Windows 7, but I'd like to make sure

Does the window ever appear at any other time, such as waking from standby?

I use to have this issue all the time but now it is quite rare and it only happens sometimes I believe if the camera gets disconnected and reconnected.  When that happens I restart and that seems to work (I have iCam as a startup program).  I am running Vista but it seems to be the same issue which occurs.  There seem to be many forums online about this issue but none are resolved.  I might be wrong but when iCam starts with windows startup it seems to not be immediately visible in the task bar (you have to expand it) since it is one of the first to start I think that might have something to do with it.  Hope that helps! :).

Indica - Do you have iCamSource set up to launch on computer Startup?  I still haven't been able to replicate the problem, but if you and aen33 are both launching the program at startup, it might be some sort of timing issue.
