Trying to connect using 2 of the same model webcams
« on: April 26, 2010, 11:59:02 PM »
I'm trying to run both of my webcams, they are both the same model number, under Windows Vista. I can get each one to run separtely in one window but when I try running them both in two windows I get a error 14 message. I'm pretty sure it's because the are both the same model number and show up exactly the same to windows, is there a way I can get around this?

That error is what would happen if you selected the same camera in both instances of iCamSource.  The model name may be the same, but Windows actually generates a unique identifier for each camera that is connected, so it shouldn't  be confusing the two cameras.

Make sure that you are picking a different video source in each instance of iCamSource.  For example, in the first iCamSource, select the first entry in the Video list and in the second iCamSource, select the second entry in the Video list.  I'm assuming the identical camera name shows up twice in the iCamSource Video drop-down list.

Yes it shows the exact web cam listed twice, if I choose the first one and start it runs fine, then open a second icam source and choose the second webcam and try running I get the error, even if I try choosing the first one on the second window I get the error as well. If I close the second icam source and choose the second webcam runs fine. In the webcam software that came with the webcams it shows both webcams but one has a _1 behind it, it doesn't show that anywhere else thou. I tried running one webcam through manycam under icam source which works and when I try and open a second icam source and run the other webcam get same error code as well.

That sounds like a hardware issue, possibly a problem with the USB bus.

What happens if you open one camera in iCamSource and then open the other camera in another program, such as Skype?
