Audio Problems. Sounds like chipmunks
« on: January 27, 2010, 03:05:04 PM »
Hi,

I am running Icam on G4 Ibook OS 10.4.11.

Icam Source runs about 60-70% CPU.

I get audio on my Iphone, but it cuts out. It is choppy. When I do get it, it sounds like the chipmunks. I am testing it with music playing and it is really fast audio, cutting in and out for 2-5 seconds at a time.

I am using audio from the Webcam Vimicro USB 2.0 camera.

Any advice?

Thanks

If you want to get the webcam audio to work, you can try installing all Mac OS X updates and updating any webcam drivers.

Also, it sounds like iCamSource is using a lot of CPU %, probably because it's running on a G4.  The motion detection processing adds a significant amount of CPU usage.  You could try dialing back the motion detection processing a little bit.

To do so, simply copy and paste the following line of text to an Applications > Utilities > Terminal window and hit Return:

defaults write com.skjm.icamsource MotionDetectionWait -int 2000

The number at the end is the number of milliseconds that the iCamSource will wait before checking for motion. You have to restart the iCamSource for any change you make to have an affect.
