Can't save motion events to cloud service
« on: December 30, 2013, 10:25:57 PM »
I read up the information on another thread and it does not seem to solve the problem.  Not sure how it works for a few.  There is no option to create an "alias" for a directory.  I've got Win7 Pro.  Creating a shortcut to the default motion events folder is not the same as backing up the files to another location.  The last post on that thread was back in 2010.

Anyway, I set up my SkyDrive, and Dropbox as well for testing purpose, on my Win 7 laptop.  Opened iCamSource, change the default motion events folder to the SkyDrive folder on my computer, and enabled "record motion".  Anything saved to this "local" SkyDrive folder is synced directly to my SkyDrive account, accessible through the web.

So, the process works fine where motion events are saved to the SkyDrive directory on my laptop, which is then synced up to my SkyDrive in the cloud.  The entire folder with a very long hash name shows up on my SkyDrive account just fine.  The problem is when I shut down iCamSource on the laptop, it seems like the system starts deleting files in that local folder, and this deletion is synced up to my SkyDrive account.  Which means, all those motion events saved in the cloud are auto-deleted whenever the files are deleted from my laptop.

How can I set it so that these motion events are not automatically deleted when iCamSource is shutdown?  The program should allow the user to have full control over when the files should be deleted

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

That sounds more like an issue with Skydrive or something. I use Dropbox to backup my motion events and they are never deleted when I shutdown the computer. Have you tried Dropbox instead? Also, you might look through your Skydrive backup program options.
