Audio shuts off - have to close down iCam software and start back up

Hello - first of all I love your iCam app - we are able to see exactly when our employees open the store. At first it was only working on a WiFi connection, but I looked on the forum section and figured out I had to set the modem up w/ port forwarding - and now it works great. The only problem is sometimes when I open up the app the audio has disappeared and the iCam software on the computer needs to be shut down and then re-started, which brings the audio back. Has anyone run into this problem?
- Software is running on a windows XP system
- camera is a Logitech
Thanks for any help or suggestion

What entries show up in the Audio drop down list in iCamSource? Which entry do you select?
When you're zoomed into the camera in iCam on your iPhone, try changing the volume using the iPhone volume buttons. Does it say "ringer" in the volume indicator pop-up?

Hi - thanks for your quick reply. I have posted a pic of the iCamSource software open and do not see any "Audio" drop down - am I missing it somewhere? - I have version 1.3.6
I checked the volume using the iPhone and it doesn't say "ringer" it just shows the icon of the ringer and the volume bars below it - but the volume is currently working - go figure. ;-) The volume shuts off now and then - not always.
Thanks again,
Eric

Sorry, I meant the "Audio Source" drop down list.
The next time the audio stops working, please check to see if the volume indicator says "ringer" under the icon. If it doesn't say "ringer", that indicates that audio data is being transferred. If it does say "ringer", then no audio data is being transferred.

Hello - the audio did stop working again and now it does say "ringer" on the iPhone... so that means no audio date is being transferred - just need to figure out why. ;-) I'll check tomorrow, to see if that computer has a second mic - and change it in the audio source drop down list - and maybe try that one. Or possibly add a second mic that isn't part of the camera - might be an issue w/ the camera/mic combo? Any other suggestions? Thanks, and I appreciate your time. -Eric

If you're using the microphone from the webcam, make sure that the webcam drivers are fully updated.
Also, make sure there aren't any other programs running that might be accessing the microphone. It can't think of any programs that would access the microphone after a period of time, but there can be conflicts with other audio capture programs, such as Skype.

Good point. I'll check to see if any other programs might be running accessing that - not that I know of, but I'll check it out. If I figure out the problem, I'll post it incase someone else runs into the problem.
Thanks again - Eric

Hi - I did some experimenting around to see if I could figure out the problem. I have the same camera at the house computer and set that one up w/ icam source software and got it working. I have the same issue w/ the audio shutting off on this computer as well. This computer has a seperate mic that i used to see if the issue was the same source being used for the camera and mic- it wasn't because it still happened. So I am thinking it is a camera issue. Does anyone have a camera that they can recommend that this works perfectly on? The camera that I have on both is the Logitech Quickcam E3500 Thanks - Eric.

You can find out if the camera is the cause of the problem by removing it from the situation completely. You mentioned that you had the same problem when you used a separate mic. You could disconnect the camera from the computer, then use a 'virtual webcam' program such as ManyCam as well as the separate mic. If you still see the problem, then the camera isn't the cause of the problem. If the problem goes away, then it is probably caused by the camera.

Thanks again, for your reply. I think I solved the problem - I downloaded the latest version of the webcam software - there was a "check for latest software" button when it was opened up. I am going on 24 hours w/o it shutting the audio off... so I think I am good to go... with that said, it will probably shut of tomorrow. ;-)
