Thanks, will do as soon as i get a chance. In the meantime I've deleted the two ipcam cameras which I had configured, iPhone and iPad. So far the icamsource has not crashed since the change. I've also added a wifi camera with positive results.

You mentioned that you were using manual port forwarding, which "should" fine for your setup using an iPhone and iPad as camera sources (assuming there aren't any bugs in ipCam)...and also assuming that both the iPhone and iPad are on the same network as the router with manual port forwarding AND assuming that both the iPhone and iPad have a static IP address assigned on your local network. Is it possible that you are allowing the iPhone and iPad to automatically retrieve an IP address from your router? If so, that would lead to connection issues...which could then cause icamsource to crash (based on my experiences with at least older versions of icamsource).
