iCam source always, always, always, hangs after about 24 hours.
« on: November 23, 2010, 01:48:06 PM »
I've got latest drivers, iCam source etc.  Running iCam source on two computers.  One weak, one very strong.  Weak one hung all the time so I thought the computer was the problem.  Upgraded to 2.whatever iCam source and now they both hang.

When the iCamSource "hangs" does it completely lock up? Or does the video stream freeze in the iCamSource Preferences window? Are you able to click the Stop button and then re-click the Start button to restart it?

Is your computer going to sleep after a period of inactivity?

It's a video stream freeze only. Clicking stop button and re-clicking start button will restart it. One of the computers has a screen saver and the other does not.  Neither of them is set to 'sleep'.

Prior to the new iCam source install the more powerful computer iCam Source did work very well.   Fwiw I do run Logmein on both machines, it allows me to restart iCam remotely.

What version of the iCamSource are you currently running? Is it 2.1.6, the latest version?

Does the previous version (2.1.5) work better for you than 2.1.6? - skjm.com/icam/iCamSetup2.1.5.exe

You will need to uninstall 2.1.6 first and then re-install 2.1.5

If uninstalling 2.1.6 and installing 2.1.5 results in the iCamSource Preferences window still saying "2.1.6" then there was an issue with the uninstallation. If you uninstall again and delete the C:\Program Files\iCamSource folder you should then be able to install 2.1.5

Thanks, I'll give that a go.  I am using a MS Lifecam, could that software be a problem?

As long as your webcam is compatible with your computer / operating system it should work with the iCamSource.
