Remote Start Cam
« on: December 09, 2009, 04:02:19 PM »
Hi,

If I have the icam source running but the camera turned off, can it be remotely turned on?

I prefer not to leave the camera on when at home (even though the app is running) but if forget to turn on cam would like to be able to activate remotely.  As the app is running it should be able to take a command remotely.

Thanks for any feedback.

Currently, the iCamSource accesses the camera whenever it is running.  This is mainly for the motion detection processing.

Other users have asked for the ability to activate the camera on demand, and that is on our list of potential features to add to iCam in the future.

Of course, if the camera is not active, push notifications and motion recording won't work because no motion processing will be taking place.

thanks for the reply.

yes that would be a welcome addition to the next version.  I understand that push notification etc aren't received which is the point because if you are at home you dont want to be alerted.  however if you leave and forget to activate that would be very convenient.

Thanks again.
