HELP Running mutliple sources
« on: September 15, 2010, 04:56:19 PM »
I have the icam Source 2.1 installed and I need to run 4 diffrent camera's on my latop. I have 1 Logitech C260 and 3 Logitech HD C310. The source runs fine indepentently but when I try to turn on the other cameras they will not bring up a picture. I just reformatted this old Toshiba laptop for the security system, it runs on Windows XP. I was wondering if I should download the older beta or if I should avoid using the HD webcams. But I need to run all four of these at one time, Any suggestions?

Do you see this same behavior if you only run two cameras?

I'm still having trouble getting a 3rd camera running - I've already got a thread here covering that, so I won't go into too much detail here.  Windows XP, first 2 cameras (USB webcams) run a treat, add a third (the Netbook internal camera) and although the camera 'on' light appears on the Netbook, no picture seen in iCamSource and I loose the video from one of my existing cameras when viewing using iCam.  When I delete the camera in iCamSource, the light stays on.  Reboot the Netbook and iCamSource and my 2 camera work fine.

It may be an issue of your computer's USB  bus not being able to power all 3 webcams at once. (The built-in webcam is most likely also internally recognized as a USB webcam.)

Thank you for your help
It is limited to only one camera on the laptop but works well with 2 on the desk top
,
I am now having trouble reading the camera's from my iphone, using both 3G and on the same network. It use to work fine when I had the Beta, but I needed the schedual feature so I replaced the BETA with Version 2.1 and now whenever I try to connect from the iphone it doesnt let me connect to any number of camera's, on the login on the iphone it says version 1.3. I was wondering if I should downgrade or how can I fix this problem

Are you seeing the No Sources Found error message? If so your iCamSource's registry may have gotten mixed up in the process.

The new version uses the registry more than the last version, so it's possible that the registry key has somehow gotten into a bad state.

Please download and run (double-click) this file: http://skjm.com/icam/CleaniCamKey.reg

That will erase the current iCamSource settings in your registry.  You will need to re-enter all of your settings, but hopefully the problem will be resolved if it's due to a problem in the registry.

I used it and still have the same problem. The funny thing is that I can connect to icam web but when running my iphone on the same network and 3g it gives me the same "Source Connection Error, One or More of the Icamsource returned by the Icam Broker Server could not be connected to"

If you are able to connect via iCamWeb but not iCam from the same local network then that is odd. Are the computer running the iCamSource and your iPhone running iCam connecting to the same router on your local network? Do you know if they both have internal IP addresses on the same internal subnet? (192.168.1.x, 10.x.x.x, etc.)

darnami32 - If you could go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ from the computer running the iCamSource and e-mail support@skjm.com what it says your external IP address is then we can attempt to look it up in the Broker Server logs and hopefully troubleshoot the problem. Please reference this forum post in your e-mail.
