SP : Sky Broadband

Router : Netgear

I have set up both icamsource and icam on my mac mini and iphone respectively.

I am able to view through my iPhone perfectly via my own wifi, yet i cannot get it to work over 3G???

I have tried the port forwarding (think i have done it right but cant be sure) but its still not working :(

Has ANYONE managed to get iCam working via 3G on the O2 network or is it not possible :(

Please help guys

sufcdan - I also received your support e-mail, but it looks like you've made progress so I'll reply to you here instead. :)

O2's 3G network is exceedingly complex when compared to other networks around the world, so I am glad to hear that you are now able to connect via 3G.

There shouldn't be any difference between receiving audio and video, however, except for the fact that you have less bandwidth to receive data with. Are you still unable to receive audio when connected via 3G?

One test to try to see if maybe a setting on your computer is having an affect as opposed to the connection type is:

- Connect via WiFi and confirm that you receive audio and video.
- Temporarily disable WiFi on your iPhone to force it to connect via 3G to see if you lose audio.
- Re-enable to WiFi and see if audio returns if it was out with 3G.

It may take longer for the audio to start over 3G just because of the bandwidth limitations, but it should still work.

it was just a delay on audio in 3G its all working perfect :D my new BEST app lol

quick question, regarding the motion capture, is it just JPEG pics that it saves, can it not save the actual motion recordings? ie in a video format?

Glad to hear that things are working for you. :)

Yes, it just saves the JPEG images. It's done to save bandwidth and to make it much easier to save an individual image to then, e-mail, MMS, etc. There are many tools available (there are a few mentioned in the forum somewhere, I believe) that can take individual images and stitch them together into a video file if you want.

I have personally used QuickTime Pro.

Another method: Creating a movie from iCam JPEG stills - http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=641.0

ok one last question, i was using videoglide before to record footage from my cam, but now im using iCam i cant record the video so thought about using the 2 combined

Videoglide says the digitizer is in use by another application (iCam) so it wont show my cam, whats the deal with digitizers can it be displayed on more than one piece of software at the same time?

Thanks for all your help

I'm not sure about VideoGlide ... I'm not familiar with it. If you run PhotoBooth or iChat instead of the iCamSource and use it to access the webcam does VideoGlide complain still? It might not like other applications communicating with the hardware for some reason.

Hi, what did you have to do to get this working? I'm still having issues getting it to work on 3G (O2)

Many users have gotten things working using O2 3G ... Have you tried forwarding ports in your router?

Yeah i forwarded port 12000 to 12100 on my sky router.  Didn't do the trick. Keep getting a message on my phone which say "One or more of the iCamSources returned by the iCam Broker Server could not be connected to"

Any ideas? I use a macbook, Sky broadband and iPhone 3GS.

Would love to get this working.

Thanks

Did the port checker link from the port forwarding instructions report port 12000 as OPEN or BLOCKED?
