Cameras
« on: May 07, 2010, 05:36:24 PM »
Im new to the Icam, and am reading and trying to learn.  Have Mac's.  Is there a list of the  cameras that work best with icam and macs?  Am wanting to use the cameras in computers, plus at least one usb, or firewire camera, and wireless as well.   Thanks for help.

Unfortunately, we don't have a comprehensive list of camera models that are compatible with iCam.

iCamSource supports video and audio for USB and built-in webcams.  In general, we've had good luck with Logitech Quickcam webcams.

iCamSource also has video-only support for Wi-Fi cameras that output MJPEG or JPEG formatted data over HTTP.  We currently own and use the following Wi-Fi cameras which are compatible with the iCamSource:

Linksys WVC54GCA - http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/products/WVC54GCA
AirLink101 SkyIPCam500W - http://www.airlink101.com/products/aicn500w.php
AirLink101 SkyIPCam747W - http://www.airlink101.com/products/aicn747w.php

So far, we haven't had any problem with any of those models.

Thanks for the help.  They all have ethernet cables.  Does that mean they have to be plugged into, or thru the modem with that cable?

The Linksys and AirLink101 cameras are Wi-Fi (wireless).
