Weird network problem with iCam...
« on: April 20, 2010, 12:27:04 AM »
Hi, i've bought and tried iCam with alternate results. I first connect a laptop to my house router and i verify that icam on my ipod works perfectly if connected to internet throught the same router the icam source laptop is connected to. When i use the ipod outside, connecting it through a wi fi 3g access point, it does not work. It gives me the error "Can't connect to the source etc..." It recognize the presence of 1 source but can't connect to it. I've tried to connect both laptop with icam source and ipod to the same wi fi 3g access point and it worked. It seems there is something wrong with different NAT between the subnet created by my house router and 3g wi fi access point. I even tried to make them take che same ip address subnet (192.168.2.x) but without any success. Any suggestions? Thanks

Jay

If iCam works correctly on your home Wi-Fi, but not on 3G, the most common reason for the Source Connection Error is that your mobile and home networks use a complex port translation technique. There is a solution, however, and that involves you forwarding ports in your router to your computer running the iCamSource. There's more information about using port forwarding with iCamSource here:  http://skjm.com/forum/index.php?topic=402.0

If that doesn't help, please email external IP address of the computer running iCamSource to support@skjm.com.  To get that, go to http://whatismyip.com in your computer's web browser.
