CPU Crunch
« on: April 08, 2010, 09:11:03 PM »
I love the app. I use every day. I am trying to run 4 webcams (USB).  When I start the first one, CPU goes to 40% give or take. After second one is loaded we are at 70% give or take. Third one almost always takes it to 100% or just under and 4th, well forget about it. $ is almost impossible to run and it crashing the program in few  seconds to a few minutes. 3 is tough as well. 2 I can do but then I have to use logmein to switch the cameras around to see other areas. I have a AMD Atholon 4800+. Any thoughts?

The iCamSource does do quite a bit of image processing to perform motion detection, so that is most likely why the CPU usage is so high.

We are currently designing an update to the iCamSource that will allow you to set the frequency at which the motion detection logic takes place (currently it checks every 500 ms) or disable the motion detection logic altogether.

Hopefully once that update is finished it will be the solution for you.
