Two feature requests
« on: January 26, 2011, 11:43:41 AM »
I love your software my wife and both have it on our iphones. I have hooked up a Foscam 8918 wireless camera in my house and we use it as a psuedo security system. I have been thinking about adding an outside camera but have come across a small problem in that I have a townhome and the other homes are very close. I have seen the feature in other programs where I can specify an area of the view where motion detection is done. I'm not sure if this has been requested before or how difficult, but I figured it can't hurt ask.

I also wanted to request an arm icon for the iphone to expedite turning on recording and motion detect so I could just hit the "ARM" button and not have to wait for the app to open and connect and then hit the slider buttons. Just a thought. Thanks let me know how plausible each of these are.

Other users have requested the motion detection "zones" before, and that feature may be added to a future version of iCamSource.

As far as I know, apps can't add icons to the iPhone Home screen to perform commands.  Icons on the home screen are either to launch an app or shortcuts to websites.

Thanks for the reply. Is the zones feature planned soon or is that sometime farther in the future?
I thought maybe just make a free app that could do it since you need to have the real app anyway. Or maybe an html 5 website that could you could save your authentication and update your ICAM statuses.

We aren't currently working on that feature, and don't have any immediate plans to add it in the short term.

Just wanted to add my vote for a motion detection zones feature.

I have my camera located at the front entrance of my home.  It helps protect against burglers, and allow me to see who is at the door when I am home.  The problem is, on windy days the swaying shrubs set off the motion detection frequently.  It would be useful to block them out of the motion detection area.  Currently my only options on windy days, is turning off iCamSource, or letting my drive fill with false alarm images.
