Airlink 747W and 500W
« on: February 21, 2010, 11:45:16 AM »
Hey Stefan-

Thanks so much for the diligent work that you guys do! I've been using iCam for a while, but just found this forum last night. I also just ordered two Airlink cameras- the ones that you use..747W and 500W. I'm hoping to set them both up in my apartment for security/monitoring.

Just curious though, since iCam doesn't support PTZ (yet!), what software do you use to control the PTZ? I'm strictly a Mac user here, and I read that you guys are primarily Mac as well. Does the 747W need to be set up on a Windows box first? After, can the PTZ be controlled using a Mac? Also, are there any other iPhone apps that can control the PTZ? I heard some people mentioning 'My Webcam,' but it looks like they only support USB cameras, specifically the Logitech Orbit.

Thanks in advance for answering so many of my questions!

Stefan

I don't know if you need to use Windows to set up the camera, but I did use Windows to do it the first time. You just need to determine what the IP address of the camera is to be able to connect to it. I currently control the PTZ (when I need to) through the web interface using Firefox on my Mac. I don't have much use for the PTZ aspect of the camera where it is currently located, so I haven't really looked into PTZ control over the iPhone.

The cameras arrived but I haven't gotten a chance to unpack them and play...hopefully tomorrow.

Good to hear that Firefox is compatible w/PTZ on a mac! I'll let you all know how the set-up goes.
