Live feed freezes, iCamSource crashes
« on: September 11, 2013, 01:45:52 PM »
Running iCamSource Ver. 2.7
Mac PowerPC G4 (17” Flat Panel) vintage 2003 - OS 10.5.8 – max for that computer
external iSight camera (2004 model “B”) - FireWire 400 - no extensions

This computer is connected by Ethernet to my home network (two 2011 computers on the network are running iCamSource with no problems).  This old computer has been on the shelf since April 2010 and I just pulled it out to power a third camera on iCam.

The problem(s):  iCamSource runs for a couple of minutes, then the video freezes (even though Motion Events continue to record the movement), and then the application crashes.

I have read a few posts with similar issues, and their replies, and so here are more facts that seem necessary to the question:
•   QuickTime ver. 7.3
•   CPU usage for iCamSource runs 50-65%
•   crash logs that I can send in for evaluation – found at /Users/<MyUsername>/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/iCamSource_<date_time>.crash.log.

What can I do to get this camera/computer working so I can have full coverage on my doggie cam?
;-)

Thanks in advance for any help.

You can try reducing the frequency of motion detection or even disabling it completely to see if that improves the CPU usage.

Also, please send the latest crash log to support@skjm.com and reference this forum post and your user name in your email.
