multiple Logitech Orbit AF webcam support
« on: July 02, 2012, 07:09:06 PM »
I have 3, Logitech Orbit AF Pan and Tilt webcams and would like to set up all 3 on iCam to view from my iPhone and iPad. Is this possible? Will one iCamSource and a USB Hub allow me to plug in 3 devices? Will iCamSource recognize three of the same device?

Thanks in advance for the "how to" instructions to make this happen.

As long as you don't have a Mac Mini, you should be ok...and icamsource will recognize multiple cameras even if they are the same brand/model. Did you double-check to make sure that iCam supports the pan/tilt features on this camera? I know there are only a few cameras that iCam currently supports as far as PTZ goes.

There may be power / throughput issues if you use 3 webcams simultaneously, especially if you throw a USB hub into the mix. It really comes down to your specific hardware configuration whether your computer will be able to support all 3 at once.

Did you ever get this working?

I am running windows 7 on the latest icam software and have 2 orbits. When I only add one to the camera lineup it works great, good fps, camera moves on swipe as expected.

When I add the second orbit to the queue they both get really pixelated and run real slooooow.

Any ideas? the computer is pretty old but has enough memory to get the job done

What is the the % CPU usage of the iCamSource application? Also, try reducing the frequency of motion detection or even disabling it completely to see if that improves the frame rate.
