Program failed to initialize on Windows XP
« on: January 14, 2010, 07:26:45 AM »
Hi.

I have a fairly bog standard XP box running nothing other than some RIP software, I installed iCam source to it  and the application will not start up and provides a rather ambiguous error " Failed to initialize Error Code .....(blah)".

I have updated the .net systems and updated to sp3 to make sure it wasn't out of date, I'd re-iterate that the app doesnt even get as far as showing on screen - i just get a windows failed program box.

I've uninstalled twice - downloaded it again just in case etc.

Anyone got any ideas where to go nect?

Cheers

Oo

When the iCamSource crashes when it's first loading it has something to do with some missing or conflicting component of your operating system.

This usually has to do with one of the following:

.NET Framework: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en
Visual C++ Redistributable: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2&displaylang=en

Also, please make sure that you have all of the latest updates installed for Windows XP and your latest webcam drivers installed as well.

If you could e-mail a screenshot of the error message you are getting to support@skjm.com we can hopefully determine what the issue is. Please reference this forum post in your e-mail.

I have added both of these programs.  Using a new Foscam IP camera.  ICamSource will not even open.  Click on the icon, a small lens opens down by the clock but when you put your cursor over the lens it disappears.  Version 1.4 works, but no other version works.  Would appreciate help.
