Camera not connecting to iCamSource
« on: January 15, 2012, 12:23:01 PM »
Hi there, I was just wondering why my muvi camcorder that I plugged into my Mac OSX computer wasn't connecting to the iCamSource I had. When I click on the plus sign to add a camera and go down to the video bar to select the camera it doesn't appear. I have been researching about this on my computer for a long time so please help me. I have also downloaded the drivers and followed the steps to make my muvi camcorder a webcam but still nothing appears.

Edit:
I have just found out that you have to get a new iCamSource app for each camera you want on your Mac. However when you try to download another iCamSource app the Mac says would you like to stop or replace this app. I would like my camera looking out the window which is beside my Mac. I have a windows laptop which I haven't downloaded the iCamSource yet for it. Would it help in anyway?

To add a camera, click on the + button underneath the cameras pane (for a screenshot go to http://skjm.com/icam/help/#setup) and follow the instructions below:

For USB, FireWire, or Built-In webcams, you should be able to make your choice from the Audio and Video drop-down lists underneath the USB / FireWire / Built-In tab.

If you add a stand-alone network IP camera, you first need to find the correct MJPEG or JPEG URL for your camera. Enter it along with your camera's Login and Password (if any) into the iCamSource.

More detailed instructions are available at our Getting Started pages: http://skjm.com/icam/help/#setup

Have you tried another USB port? Are you able see a feed from your camera via other video capture software?

Im able to upload all the videos i've taken with my muvi camcorder but nothing appears on the iCamSource. And I'm using the USB cable provided and tested that no other one works.

Most camcorders don't automatically act as webcams, which is what you are attempting to do...use it as a webcam. Often, you have to download drivers (at least on Windows) that will allow the operating system to use the camcorder as a webcam. You might google "using muvi camcorder as a webcam on Mac" or something similar to verify that it's possible and that you have the drivers needed, etc. Once you are able to use it as a webcam, you should be able to add it as a source in icamsource. Hope this helps!

Is your USB webcam connected to your computer via a hub or extension?
