Sometime iCam crash after startup
« on: October 02, 2010, 11:13:23 AM »
I have a Mac mini, Mac Os 10.6.4 clean install, 1 iSight firewire, 1 USB camera.
Sometimes iCam Source crash immediately after the Mac startup (the application is set to startup at login)
I sent last crash log to support e-mail address.

I used also KIU (Keep it up) to keep the application up but KIU log says: "iCamSource alias was not added to the application list because this app has no creator code"

Any way to keep the application up an running?

From the crash log it looks like you are running 2.1 ... Have you tried the latest version, 2.1.2 available form our website?

I'm running version 2.1.2 now. I'll report any changes.

From the crash logs it crashed in the QuickTime video capture code, which may indicate a hiccup with the camera hardware.

Was it running consistently for 2 weeks before crashing?

iCamSource crash only immediately after Mac startup. But not every time.
I usually power on Mac Mini every day and leave it running for 8-10 hours without problems. iCamSource runs fine during up time.

Seems (but this is just my assumption) that iCamSource sometimes starts "too soon" while MacOS is still loading something else. (iCamSource is set to startup at login).

So I'll try to start the application manually or write a script to delay it.

Thanks for your assistance

Yes, that may be the issue. If delaying the startup of the iCamSource when your computer is started doesn't fix things, please let us know.

I confirm that delaying the startup of iCamSource fix the problem.
I recorded the action with Automator, delayed the action 1 minute and put it in the login items. It is useful to go out before cam activation also! (May be a countdown timer can be the new feature in the next release?)
