I am unable to connect from my iphone to iCam on my computer webcam at home unless I am on the same wifi network, that is, I cannot connect on EDGE, 3G, or a different wifi network. I have gone through the troubleshooting, and auto-config does not work, and port forwarding does not seem to work. I say that, because my setup is not typical. For internet I use the Verizon MiFi, not a typical router. For some reason, other apps, such as the now discontinued Peekeez, were able to function just fine on my iPhone, without port forwarding or anything else - it just worked - install app on iPhone, install server application on my Mac, and it worked. Now that Peekeez is discontinued, I was looking for another solution, but if I cannot get this working, it is a waste of time and money. I am optimistic though, and welcome assistance.
Here is my setup:
iMac with iSight
MacBook Pro with iSight
(iCamSource installed on both computers with the same username and password)
iPhone 4
Verizon MiFi 2200 Mobile Hotspot
(Currently DSL and Cable are not available in my rural location)
Just a couple other notes:
When I am on my local network at home with my iPhone, along with the 2 computers (Verizon MiFi) I can connect to the cameras just fine.
I am running the latest software for both iCam on the iPhone and iCamSource on both computers.
The error message that I get is the:
Source Connection Error: One or more of the iCamSources returned by the iCam Broker Server could not be connected to.
I checked, and the UDP port is blocked, but again, I am not working with a typical router.
Thanks for your time and assistance.
