DLink DGL-4100 Router - "Auto Config Router" Problem
« on: September 16, 2010, 04:52:44 AM »
Hi Jay / Stefan ...
Just so you know ... with more than one camera, Auto Config Router does not seem to work on my DGL-4100 Router.  This is not a v2.1.1 problem - I've had it on all recent versions of iCamSource, and resorted to port forwarding to make it work - which it does and quite well!  If I use Auto Config, one of the cameras works fine, all the others report "No Sources Found". So this is not a "trouble report", but rather an "FYI".  Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. :)

If you are forwarding ports in your router, are you checking both the Auto-Config Router and Port Forward Range checkboxes at the same time? I would suggest checking one or the other, as checking both will cause the iCamSource to do both manual and automatic port forwarding, which may return unexpected results. If you have forwarded ports manually, I would stick with that, and un-check the Auto-Config Router checkbox.

The Auto-Config Router functionality does work with some routers, although not all of them implement UPnP or NAT-PMP correctly. Manually forwarding ports is still the ultimate solution, but the router auto-configuration is a simpler solution to a number of users who have complex networks but are still able to connect without manually forwarding their ports.

I do not have both choices checked ... only "Port Range".  The manual port forwarding configuration - which works great - shall stay.  Thanks.
