icamsourse doesnt stay running
« on: August 31, 2010, 12:10:21 AM »
i can connect my 3gs to the icamsource.. everything is fine then i try a few hours later and the connection is lost giving me the standard error "no icamsource source connection error" i go back to my computer with the attached webcam and icamsource is running in the task bar.

when i right click and go to preferences the screen which shows up now says "icamsource preferences 1.4.2.6 Beta"

I have upgraded to the newest version but it did not fix the error

generally a few seconds later a MS window pops up and say that there has been an error and icamsource must close.

i am running

PC
vista extreme R2
AMD Phenom 9950 quad core 2.60GHz
4 GB RAM
32 bit OS

Phone

iphone 3Gs
32GB
running 3.1.3
on 3G network

What is the Brand/Model of your camera?  If it's a USB camera, is it plugged into a USB hub or extension cable?  If so, please try plugging it directly into the computer.

Also, please make sure that Windows is fully updated through Windows Update and that you have the latest drivers installed for your webcam.

yes it is a brand new logitech orbit/sphere with the latest software update attached directly to computer through usb.

the cam is working and i can see the live picture when i open the icam preferences. i have no other programs accessing the cam. its sole purpose is to be used on the iphone.

i am running vista with service pack 2

i clicked the autoconfigure router port which says upnp sucess 12000 > 12000

now i cant ever get a connection to the iphone... before it would work on and off

Do you have uPNP enabled in icamsource and in the router? I had issues with icamsource (a couple of versions ago...before uPNP was available) crashing when trying to connect via 3g. It usually worked once...but next time crashed. Once I properly configured port forwarding, the issue went away immediately.

The Source Connection Error usually won't appear after a period of time.  Either the network is configured to allow the iCam to connect properly or it isn't.  The error message that can show up after a period of time is the No Sources Found error.  That can be due to the computer going to sleep or if iCamSource crashes.

It isn't clear from your first post which message you're seeing.  If you're seeing the No Sources Found error, then new version with UPnP probably won't help.

I can get more information about your problem if I have the external IP address of the computer running iCamSource.  Please send an email to support@skjm.com with your computer's external IP address.  To get that, go to http://whatismyip.com in your computer's web browser. Please refer to this forum thread in your email.
