How does this software know where my computer is?

How does this software locate my computer when im outside the network? Is it just locating my computer using my username? What if two computers have the same username? Currently im using "test" and it seems to be working fine. I'm just trying to understand how this software locates the computers without some type of registration or IP address being input into the iPhone app. The only solutions I can figure out is by the username however the problem of common duplicate usernames comes into play. Can someone shed some light on my question?

iCam uses both your login and password to identify your iCamSources.  Actually, your login and password are never sent to our iCam Broker Server. Both iCam and the iCamSource use your login and password to generate a 40-character random-looking SHA-1 hash string, and that is what is actually sent to the server.

Security with a login and password is only as strong as the login and password you decide to use.  Clearly, the login "test" is very easy for other people to guess and therefore, that particular login may not be secure (depending on the password you're using).  Make sure to use a login and password that can't be easily guessed by other people.

Ah perfect I understand excellent very smart method. Secure, easy and fast. Great software so much better than I ever expected I honestly downloaded it out of boredom to test with some of my other cam software and this application/iPhone app is going to replace my existing system. Thank you for the fast detailed reply!
