I hate having to run my laptop all day and night. >:(

No, the option to bypass the iCamSource for WiFi Network IP cameras has been requested in the past and is currently on our list of potential features to implement in the future.

is this still the case? is there not a camera I can buy that doesn't require leaving my laptop on all day?

Yes. It is possible that the ability for WiFi Network IP cameras to bypass the iCamSource might be added in the future but, it isn't currently a development priority.

Yes. Just use Safari on your iPhone. Skip iCam.
