Motion settings on the camera or on CamSource
« on: June 25, 2013, 10:29:55 PM »
In my Dlink DCS 942, I have the option to enable PIR (Passive Infrared) motion detection. Along with that, I have to choose the area that I want to record. The recording goes on a SD card which I have enabled and the emailing of photos and videos are disabled.

Enabling Motion Detection, should that be done only in CamSource and not on the camera software itself? Can I have both enabled or would that cause more events to appear than necessary?

The motion detection on the camera is completely separate from the motion detection performed by icamsource, and should not affect your iCam setup at all...assuming the camera is still delivering MJPEG video to icamsource (not MPEG-4 video). The reason for this is because icamsource is accessing the "raw" video feed from the camera, then analyzing it for motion, recording motion events, etc. As long as the camera-based settings don't affect the delivery of the MJPEG feed, then they shouldn't interfere with iCam.
