Run camera without needing computer to be on?
« on: April 18, 2013, 10:52:34 PM »
Is it possible to have the camera record motion and be on without needing my computer to be running the icamsource application? Could we use our ipad or iphone to do the save the images?

If you have an IP camera, it might have a motion recording option, in which images with motion will be e-mailed to you. I've tried this feature before, and found that it quickly overloaded my e-mail account. I couldn't reduce the sensitivity enough to keep it from triggering for every slight shadow change. Your mileage may vary, though. But as far as iCam goes, you must be running icamsource in order for iCam to receive images. In fact, it is icamsource (not iCam) that is saving the images. iCam doesn't save motion events on your phone unless you manually save some of the images, which are fed to iCam from the computer. SKJM posted a few days ago about having received requests for an iPad version of icamsource, but it is not in any immediate plans.
