No error message, but no picture
« on: November 23, 2012, 09:05:50 AM »
Hello,
I am running an analog camera through a vivotek network video server (VS7100). The server is connected to my primary wired Linksys router, and I a, running a Netgear WNDR3400 wireless router off of that network (this is a Vista machine). The wirelss router is set up as a "dummy", with the IP addresses being assigned by the Linksys. I am able to see a picture on the vivotek server from a nardwired compture and also on a another computer via the wireless router, but I cannot see the picture in ICam source. I receive no error messages and the "preferences" screen indicates that I am connected to the server. I have the URL of the vivotek server in the Ethernet tab, but no picture. Any ideas on what the check next? thanks.

What exactly do you have entered in icamsource for the URL? Does the VS7100 support MJPEG/JPEG? If not, it won't work with iCam.

The specs for the vivotek are below - seems to support mjpeg

Compression: MJPEG & MPEG-4
Streaming:
Simultaneous dual streams
MPEG-4 streaming over UDP, TCP, HTTP or HTTPS
MPEG-4 multicast streaming
MJPEG streaming over HTTP or HTTPS
Supports 3GPP mobile surveillance
Frame rates:

MPEG-4: Up to 30/25 fps at 352x240 (NTSC) / 352x288 (PAL)
MJPEG: Up to 30/25 fps at 352x240 (NTSC) / 352x288 (PAL)

URL is http://xxx.xxx.1.2/video.mjpeg

When you click on that link in your web browser, are you able to see the camera's feed? If it doesn't work in IE, try Firefox...seems like one of the browsers (or maybe both?) don't work with mjpeg feeds. Make sure that your entered the "camera's" (Vivotek's) username/password correctly in icamsource. Also, check out these 2 links...they might help you identify the correct URL to use:

http://skjm.com/icam/mjpeg.php

http://skjm.com/icam/mjpeg_test.php
