broker connection error

Hello,

I get the broker connection error saying it cannot connect to the server possibly because the network may be preventing me from making a UDP connection.

I am pretty sure this is because of the way the server is set up, since I was trying at the library wireless, while it works fine at home.  Is there any way to get around this somehow?

Thanks for any help.  This is an awesome software btw.

If you are receiving that error message from the Library's WiFi then they probably have blocked outgoing UDP communication on their network.

If you go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ from your iPhone / iPod touch the next time you get that message and e-mail support@skjm.com what it says your IP address is then we can attempt to look it up in the iCam Broker Server logs to see if it is able to connect.

Hello, I too get the broker connection error while using the ICamweb from my work computer. It works fine on my Iphone 3g and so I am sure that my office environment is blocking the outgoing UDP. Is there a way to get around this? Any other way to connect to the ICamSource using ICamweb?

If your office network blocks outgoing UDP, there isn't much that can be done.  iCamWeb uses the same UDP protocol used in the iPhone app, so it does require that the network allows at least outgoing UDP packets.  We have seen networks that block outgoing UDP before, but they are pretty rare.  So far, every example we've seen has been a government or corporate network.  It's understandable that those networks would be more restricted than most.
