iCam Support / Source connection error
« on: February 23, 2011, 12:41:31 PM »
I am getting the dreaded "Source connection error" when trying to access my camera from outside of my network. It was working but now I can only connect when using wifi on my own network.
Here are the details:
I am running icamsource 2.2.1 on a vista sp2 32bit laptop. I am using a Logitech 9000 camera connected to usb port on the pc - not using a hub. I have shut off Windows firewall. I have shut off my Belkin 23834a router firewall. I have put the ip of my pc in a DMZ on the router. I have tried "Auto-config router" but I get this: Error:UPnP 2.  NAT-PMP 3.-5.0
I checked the router and UPnP is enabled.
I did port forwarding for ports 12000-12005. portchecker shows these ports are open.
I changed icamsource to only use ports 12000-12005.
I have run out of ideas. Any thing else I can try?

I was finally able to revert to 2.1.5. I will report tomorrow if it fixed my problem.

Ok, I think I'm running 2.1.5 now. Here is what I did. Uninstalled ICamSource. Used regedit to remove all entries for icam. Then used regedit again to remove all entries for skjm. Reinstalled a known 2.1.5 version and now ICamSource says I am running 2.1.5.
Sorry if I confused anybody.

Now I'm totally confused. I uninstalled ICamSource that said it was version 2.1.8. I then rebooted. I then used regedit to remove any reference to ICam. I rebooted again. I searched my entire hard drive for anything other than an install file with "icam" in the name. Didn't find anyhting. I then had a friend email me a copy of his old 2.1.5 installer file and installed that. ICamSource still says it is 2.1.8????????????
So am I running 2.1.5 or 2.1.8?
If it is 2.1.5 then why does it say 2.1.8?

I installed 2.1.8 and had the same problems so I uninstalled, downloaded and installed 2.1.5 but it still says I have 2.1.8

I am trying to revert from 2.1.8 to 2.1.5 but after uninstalling 2.1.8 and downloading and installing 2.1.5 ICamSource still says it is 2.1.8. I compared the 2 files I downloaded and they seem identical. Does the website have the wrong version when you try to download 2.1.5?

After install ICamSource 2.1.8 and using Auto-Config Router my ICam works in my home network but doesn't connect on either my work wifi or 3g. I get "Source Connection Error".

I originally installed without using the Auto-Config Router. Everything was working ok. Home network, 3G, and work WiFI all worked. Now work Wifi doesn't work. I won't be able to check if using the Auto-Config Router option helped until Monday when I go back to work.

I noticed that version 2.1.6 is no longer on the ICamSource download page. It has version 2.1.5 instead. Was there a problem with 2.1.6? Should I uninstall 2.1.6 and install 2.1.5?

Yes, that is my problem but what I don't understand is why it used to work for me and it still works for my coworkers.

My apologies in advance for a long post.
I installed ICamSource 2.1.6 on my Windows 7 laptop. I bought and installed ICam on my IPhone 4. It worked immediately and perfectly. I went to work where my phone connects to the company wifi network. I showed my coworkers the app on my phone. Still working fine. I installed ICamSource on my laptop in my vacation home and tried to get 2 cameras attached to my laptop there(Windows Vista) to work. I had issues and was advised to move back to an older version of ICamSource. It worked when I was on my home network but crashed using 3G. I gave up on the vacation home pc. Now my original home setup will work on my home network and on 3G but not when I connect to my work wifi. I tried changing the username and password but I still can't connect from my work wifi. Several other coworkers can connect to their cameras so I know it is not being blocked by something at work. I don't know what to check now. It used to work from my work wifi, it still works for other people on my work wifi but it won't work for me on my work wifi. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions as to what I should do?

A Windows update that installed new drivers has disabled my internal camera. As soon as I get the camera working again I will test 2.1.5 and let you know.

I disabled motion detection on both cameras and the program still crashed. I uninstalled version 2.1.6 (I had to delete the directory after doing the uninstall) and installed 1.4.2.6 and started 2 instances. The program didn't crash. I checked on my IPhone and both cameras are working. Thanks a lot for the help. Great support guys!
Do me a favor and send me an e-mail if you fix the problem in version 2.1.6. It's always nice to have the latest version.
Thanks again.
