2) Ability to enable/disable specific cameras. After running iCamSource, iCam to pick up list of cameras in preferences section to give ability to enable/disable specific cameras - not to actually stop a camera but to remove from mosaic view, as I am constantly showing off iCam to friends and family, I may not want them to see a certain camera(s).
3) Audio support for IP cameras. Ideal for baby monitor or door entry intercom.
4) iCam to display cameras in order they were set up in iCamSource.
5) iCamSource GUI similar to Foscam?
6) Sneaky peak at your future features list :-)
Additional YES vote for:
A) User specific motion detection areas.
B) Ability to pan/tilt/zoom.
C) iCamSource to auto restart. After lost Internet connection or lost connection to certain camera.
I wasn't using anything as obvious as test/test but it was a password same as username combo.
When I open iCam, I don't normally just close it straight away, even though I don't have iCamSource running I do click on the refresh button a few times.
I have left the new username and password on the iPhone since I changed it the other night and I haven't had any further Motion Detected (but I will add numbers to make it more unique).
The reason why I don't think it has anything to do with my old account and more to someone else using the same credentials, is because the motion was detected in a future time.
OK, last night before going to bed I was playing with my iPhone and launched iCam, iCamSource is NOT running on my computer as it’s turned OFF.
I decided to change my login details on iCam from what I have been using during testing, to what I want to use going forward. I picked something that isn’t easy for others to guess and I don’t think anyone else would be using it in this combination. Got a “No Sources Found – There are currently no running iCamSources associated with your existing login and password”, turned it off and went to sleep.
At 05:53 (AM London), I was woken by “Motion Detected – Camera 2010-09-24 12:53” (I’m a light sleeper), I clicked on view and got no image just “No Sources Found – There are currently no running iCamSources associated with your existing login and password”, this really freaked me out that motion was detected when my computer is turned off, I thought maybe someone else has the same login details but why couldn’t I see the camera feed? And looking at the time difference + 7 hours, I’m guessing someone in China?
Motion was detected twice within 10 minutes.
So what’s going on here? Has anyone else experienced this?
p.s. I read about the SHA-1 stuff, if the login details are the same as someone else’s, I should be able to see their feeds?
I have successfully connected to my IP camera from my work computer and iCamSource over 3G on iPhone.
I pointed the USB and IP camera at my TV before I left home, I'm now sitting at work watching Friends on E4+1 via iCam over 3G and both camera's are updating within a second of each other.
Since this thread is stickied I thought it would be a good idea to ask this question here.
Prior to iCamsource 2.x I was running multiple instances of iCamsource.exe as Windows services, so that they would start automatically in the event the machine was rebooted. Now of course all that is changed what with the ability in iCamsource to set up as many cameras as you want.
I see the 'auto start' option in iCamsource but I expect you must log in to the computer in order to get iCamsource to start up. My goal is to get iCamsource started automatically if the computer reboots (automatic service pack installation, etc) so that if I'm not home to log in and start it I can still get it to come on automatically when the machine boots.
So, here's my question. Can I just re-purpose one of my old Windows services to start iCamsource as a service still, but without the AppParameters being set, so that it just starts iCamsource itself? Is there a better/easier way to do this?
Thanks.
Some people have reported setting up all the camera's and clicking on auto start and then placing a shortcut in the start up menu to do the trick. Others use batch files.
After clicking and reading various threads and only becoming more and more confused, I have decided to finally post and hopefully seek a reply.
To begin with, I had installed and successfully run this program just a couple days ago. Everything worked great - it worked perfectly both on my wireless network & my 3G network.
Yesterday, I formatted my computer and tried to re-install the program. I have the latest app on my iPhone (from the app store) and re-downloaded the software from the skjm website. However, now I am unable to make this connection work. Last time around it was so straightforward I didn't even have to visit the forum (besides for automatic start-up). This time around, totally different story. I have done everything the same and have not changed anything. The login & password are identical, my router does work, and there is no other program running the camera. The program runs when I open up preferences, it just doesn't connect to my iPhone.
I have clicked Auto-Config Router. A few seconds after clicking the Start tab, the following message appears:
Error: UPnP 0: NAT-PMP 3,-5,0
I do not understand why this connection fails to conect. I have checked with my firewall settings and the program does have access to the internet.
Please help and for my own sake, please break it down. I am not very handy when it comes to problem solving computer issues - an amateur, one might say.
Thank You!
Apart from the UPnP error, do you get any other errors - on your iPhone?
I'm not sure if reformtting would affect this but have you checked if your computers IP address changed after the reformat, check this with your port forwarding setting.
After I got home I played around for a while and I think I cracked it (fingers crossed).
Foscam app - non connection issue over 3G, I swapped the camera IP address for my external IP address and hey presto, it now works on wifi and 3G.
I found that various people say different things, some say to connect using camera IP others say use external IP, external was winner for above app. I will have to wait till I go work tomorrow to test from another computer using external IP but I have a feeling it will work.
iCam app - I also tested iCamSource with external IP and camera IP and they both work over wifi and 3G. Over 3G both IP cam USB cam now only seem to have a 1-4 second lag, a much better improvment. I think it was worse when I tried at my sister house because I remotely accessed my computer from hers to run iCamSource. Will test 3G from near work too, I know 3G is not connecting to my wifi, but a just want to do a proper test
As my external IP is constantly changing (due to more reboots these days, port forwarding etc) I think I will sign up for DDNS and make life easier for myself
Should be receiving a Foscam FI8908W tomorrow, so I should have 1 USB and 2 IP cams running from iCamSource.
To be honest I'm not getting blown away with this camera either. I've just realised I can't acually connect to it from outside of my network.
Firstly your comments... Over wifi, it's pretty much normal, may be about 1 second delay. I'm also using http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/video.cgi too. I will try the rate parameter when I get home.
I downloaded an app called Foscam Surveillance by Maurice de Bijl, just to test the camera directly, I noticed that it works on wifi but not over 3G (at home). After I got iCamSource running, I tried it on wifi and 3G and it worked (at home), so I assumed there was an problem with the Foscam app, as I cam see the IP cam on iCam over 3G.
I came to my sisters house and tried to connect to my IP camera on her computer and it says page cannot be displayed. So I realised thats probably why it's not working on the Foscam app over 3G.
But iCam picked up the USB cam and IP cam while connected to her wifi and then over 3G, but it was intermittent, very intermittent with the IP cam and the delay is even greater, the USB cam works perfectly.
I have port forwarded the IP cam IP using TCP port 9001 but looks like that hasn't helped.
Can you connect to your Foscam away from it's connected network? I think I need to resolve this first before moving on to iCamSource, really annoying!!!
I know it's off iCam topic but please I need your help.
(One other thing I don't know if everyone has this issue when posting on this forum but text box keeps going up and down as I'm typing, so as I'm typing it scrolls to the top, I can keep typing but can't see what I'm typing and have to keep scrolling down in the text box)
I've got the FI8904W (FI8098W still in the post) and just got it setup today, I think setting it up with iCamSource was the easy bit!
What you can try is, if you click on the URL link where you enter the camera address, it will take you to the SKJM support page, enter the details and it will generate the link for you. Select the MJPEG link, paste it in add username and password and that should do it.
Resolved it, I was using WPA when I should have been using WEP, that's why it wasn't connecting to the wireless. Now I can access over the Internet.
I got it to work on iCamSource first time too.
I tested it all on my laptop, i set up iCamSource with the built in webcam and the IP cam. I have to admit the IP cam is really really slow over 3G, refreshes about every 15 seconds, you can get a bit of distance with 15 seconds but if record is on, it will get you even if you walk past the camera & it doesn't pick you up.
Slightly off the iCam topic now and I'm hoping you can help me with this Ricky.
I received my FOSCAM FI8904W today, and it's driving me crazy!! I can't get it to connect wirelessly.
I have followed the instructions but still no luck.
1 - Have installed the software 2 - Connected the Cam to my Livebox wireless ADSL router, with the RJ45 3 - Launched IP Camera Tool, which picked up the IP address of the camera 4 - Double clicked it and it opened in IE, can view the image, so camera working 5 - Clicked on Wireless LAN settings and filled in the details, clicked submit and go a success message 5 - It rebooted, I disconnected from the router and power 6 - Connected back to power, instructions says that the LED will blink after 30 sec, which would indicate wifi mode - Where is this blinking LED? theres the IR LEDs on the cam and a green one on the plug, but nothing flashed. 7 - Tried to connect in IE but page can't be found! - on wireless mode, do you still see IP address on IP Camera Tool?
And how do you update the firmware, when you click it, it starts looking for something on my PC???
UPNP enabled on router and Camera.
So I'm not quite at the iCamSource stage yet, am I missing something?
Sorry so late in replying as I have been away on holiday.. yes you need to install the software that comes with it and get the camera up and running first with a ethernet connection then switch it over to wifi in the software that way then all you need to do is set the icamsource to Ethernet/wifi and add in http://your camera ip address/pda.cgi?page=image&cam=1&user=name&password=name its quite simple really regards Ricky
Hi Ricky,
It's OK, hope you had a nice holiday, probably on your iCam the whole time
I've ordered a FOSCAM FI8908W and FI8904W, should be here in the next few days, will try them out and let everyone know how I get on.
You are using a camera which I'm already looking at buying for use with iCamSource/iCam.
But I'm new to all this and learning as I go along.
I was wondering if you could go through the setup and how exactly iCamSource picks up these camera's, I thought they would need to be physically connected to the PC? (as my current webcam) Do you need to use the software that comes with the camera?
